Public Works Department

Our Public Works Assistant is a terrific source of information.  If you have any questions, concerns or comments regarding:  ditches; culverts; signage; municipal water problems; water metre inspections; analytical reports; or any other services that we provide.  Public Works compiles and prepares Annual Water Reports for the Ministry of the Environment which can be made available to the public at the Municipal office. If you require information about a locate for Hydro or Gas, please call your local provider.  PLEASE NOTE:  Although they are in our service area, we do not maintain King's Highways or County Roads, and concerns regarding these roads should be directed to those road authorities.

Ontario's Drinking Water Regulation requires that water samples be taken on a regular basis including continuous, daily, weekly, quarterly, and annual samples for various parameters.  An annual report summarizing the operation of the water systems and the quality of water is prepared at the end of each year.  Each year the Township files a copy of this annual report with the Ministry of the Environment. The same report is presented to Council along with additional information to ensure that Council is advised of its requirements in the operation of the water systems.  The public can review these reports free of charge at the Municipal office during regular business hours or through this web site.

ROADS DEPARTMENT

The Roads Department provides ongoing maintenance of all roads in the Township, whether it be grading in the spring, construction and paving in the summer or snow removal every winter.

Public works also maintains the parks and ball parks in the Township in regards to equipment upkeep and grass cutting.

Tenders for the works department are generally advertised near the beginning of each calendar year. Please watch your local paper or contact the Municipal office for more information.  Notices may also be posted on the municipal website.

If you are doing any work on the Municipal road allowance within the Township, you will require a Road Occupancy Permit.

A permit is required for any work being done on a municipal road or right-of-way. There is a fee for the permit. We require 48 hours notice to issue a permit, and if there is to be a road closure, adequate signage and additional safety measures may be required to warn or detour traffic.

If you are carrying an oversized/overweight load within the Township, you will be required to advise us so we may issue you a permission letter.
